PARK RAPIDS - Two men from here were shot with a .22-caliber rifle, and the alleged shooter fired toward officers before she was taken into custody early today, Hubbard County Sheriff Gary Mills said in a news release.

According to the release:

The sheriff's office received a report at 1:07 a.m. that two people had been shot at a residence at 11390 Jade Rose Drive in Clover Township, about 12 miles north of Park Rapids.

Cody Allen Paulson, 18, received wounds to his upper thigh. The other victim, Jason Howard Walker, 21, received wounds to his left hand.

The victims were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids. A condition report was not immediately available.

The alleged shooter, Stephanie Ann Wehmas, 20, of Park Rapids, had fled the residence in a blue Honda Civic. A state trooper later located Wehmas in her vehicle in Becker County.

While officers were waiting for backup assistance, Wehmas fired a shot out the rear window of her vehicle toward officers, the news release said. No one was injured as a result of the shot.

Wehmas was taken into custody without further incident a short time later.

She is being held in the Hubbard County Jail pending formal criminal charges.
