High speed chase leads to felony charge
Jade E. Nitek, 27, of 28822 260th Ave., Homcombe, Wis., has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
Nitek is also charged with two counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree DWI.
According to court records: On June 11 a deputy clocked a vehicle driving 89 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 87. The deputy activated his emergency lights and pursued as the vehicle turned onto 380th Avenue South and continued until it came to a residence, where the driver stopped the car, got out and ran. Nitek was caught a short time later, with a blood alcohol level that tested at .10 percent.
Nitek appeared June 13 before District Judge Joe Evans, who set $1,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond, with conditions, and set the next appearance for July 14.
