Dorgan praises Conrad's character; won't predict outcome of ethics committee investigation
Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., said his colleague from the state is a man of "great character and integrity."
Dorgan, in an interview with WDAY-AM radio, was responding to questions about Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and a senate ethics investigation.
Conrad is under fire for being linked to a questionable mortgage from Countrywide Financial.
Dorgan said Conrad is a good man but wouldn't discuss whether he believes Conrad will be cleared.
Conrad has denied knowingly accepting a discounted mortgage.
Dorgan said he expects the ethics committee will conduct a fair investigation.
Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., also faces a similar ethics probe relating to Countrywide.
