Old Hwy 10 closed Washington-Holmes

Highway 10 mainline is open. The traffic signals at McKinley Avenue and Jackson Avenue are now operating and allow travelers to enter or exit Highway 10.

The Mn/DOT traffic department will be monitoring the signals, and may adjust the timing of the signals depending on traffic movement. Motorists also have access to Highway 10 at Washington Avenue, Corbett Road, Kris Street, North Shore Drive, East Shore Drive and County Road 54.

Old Highway 10 (Frazee Street)

Crews will begin work on the south lanes of old Highway 10 between McKinley Avenue and Jackson Avenue on Tuesday. Motorists will encounter two-lane, two-way traffic along this stretch. This work is scheduled to take approximately five weeks.

Old Highway 10 will be closed between Washington Avenue and Holmes Street. Westbound traffic will need to turn left at Holmes Street to access downtown businesses, turn right to access Burger Time or continue straight to access Floral Impressions.

Old Highway 10 will be closed between Jackson Avenue and SuLaine's Antique Mall. Motorists should follow the signed detour.

Frontage Road

Work on the frontage road between Jackson Avenue and North Shore Drive begins this week. Crews will be removing sections of old Highway 10 and the existing frontage road to reconstruct a new frontage road. Temporary business signing is scheduled to be installed on Monday. Public access to frontage road businesses will be maintained at all times using either old Highway 10 or the existing frontage road. Highway 10 traffic can access these frontage road businesses at Corbett Road and North Shore Drive.

The frontage road between North Shore Drive and East Shore Drive/County Road 53 is closed for approximately eight to 10 weeks. During this time crews will reconstruct the boat landing and overlook area, build two retaining walls between the frontage road and Big Detroit Lake, work on the new bike trail and construct the East Shore Drive/frontage road intersection. Motorists should use Highway 10 to get around the Big Detroit Lake.

Highway 59 bridge

Motorists should watch for temporary outside lane closures as crews paint the bridge this week.

Washington Avenue

The Highway 10 and Washington Avenue intersection is open with a four-way stop condition.

Lake Avenue between Highway 10 and State Street is closed as crews continue to install storm sewer and reconstruct the roadway immediately north of the Graystone Building.

Concrete paving is scheduled for the end of the week.

The Depot Park 'n Ride is closed for paving.

McKinley Avenue

McKinley Avenue between Highway 10 and old Highway 10 (Frazee Street) is open to traffic.

Roosevelt Avenue

Roosevelt Avenue south of old Highway 10 (to Park Street) will close on Tuesday for approximately five weeks. Travelers will encounter a three-way stop at the intersection.

Traffic is being redirected to McKinley Avenue and Park Street. Motorists should follow the signed detour.

Roosevelt Avenue north of old Highway 10 (to Randolph Road) will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. for two nights the week of July 14 to allow crews to paint the concrete beams under the Highway 10 bridge. This work was originally scheduled for this week, but has been rescheduled.

Kris Street

Kris Street between Highway 10 and Randolph Road is open. There is a lane closure and stop sign condition for all turning motorists entering or exiting Kris Street.

Traffic signals are installed but not operational to allow BNSF crews to finish the installation of a 6,000-foot railroad crossing pre-emption system. BNSF crews will also be installing the quad-four gate system at the Kris Street railroad crossing.

BNSF has estimated this work will take approximately three to four weeks.

The next Highway 10 project update/public meeting for this construction season will be held Monday, July 7, beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Hall.
