Area farmers market to host 10-year celebration

The Lakes Area Farmer's Market is celebrating its 10th season this year.

The Market is located in the City Park by the Pavilion and open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vendors have two special events planned this August for the public. On Tuesday, Aug. 19, area chefs will be on hand to demonstrate how to cook fresh local produce. The featured chefs are Chad Miner from Brainerd and Josh Hanson from Spankey's Stone Hearth. Join us in the band shell to sample delicious local produce prepared by local chefs.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, vendors will host the 10th annual customer appreciation day. A drawing for Farmer's market products will be held.

Walk through the farmer's market, sample goods, and visit with growers who produce your food. Local produce is in peak season now. Besides wonderful fruits and vegetables, you will find meats, baked goods, artisan breads, honey, maple syrup, flowers and hand-crafted items at the market.
