Hospice of the Red River Valley

In giving, you receive immeasurably. As a volunteer for Hospice of the Red River Valley, you are part of a team with the potential to make a great impact on your community.

Our volunteers can choose the way they would like to help provide compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families through running errands, doing light house keeping, fixing meals or providing companionship visits.

Other volunteer opportunities include helping out in the office or promoting Hospice through fundraising activities such as Light up a Life.

Emmanuel Community

Do you have a few hours to share? Do you have a talent you want to share? Do you want to make new friends?

Caring, friendly, reliable individuals, families and groups wanted to volunteer with the residents at Lamplighter Manor, The Madison Senior Housing complex or Emmanuel Nursing Home. On-going volunteer opportunities include one-on-one and small group activities.

Short and long-term, volunteer assignments are available mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Lakes Learning

Lakes Learning is an Adult Basic Education program for the Detroit Lakes community. The program works with adults who want to increase reading, math and English skills, or achieve a GED. Lakes Learning is seeking individuals interested in tutoring adults in these areas. Lakes Learning needs a volunteer willing to go to a nursing home in Detoit Lakes and work with a woman who wants to study for her GED. Lakes Learning is also in need of a volunteer to teach a pre-CNA class for adult learners going into the medical field. This class lasts 20 hours and will be located at MSCTC. Detroit Lakes Wetland Management District

Several volunteer opportunities are available for those who would like to be involved in outdoor and wildlife oriented activities. Volunteers can conduct wildlife, vegetation, and hunter surveys, assist with prairie wetland and grassland restorations, help people with disabilities go on a deer hunt, do building and vehicle maintenance, construct a hiking/cross-country ski trail, and provide information to visitors. 4-H Program

. Volunteers offer guidance to club members who are working on pro­jects in the volunteers' area of ex­pertise. They also help with a vari­ety of activities, such as leading songs and preparing skits.
