Ritchie: Register to vote now

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie urged Minnesotans to register to vote now to save time at the polls. Minnesotans may register to vote by completing a voter registration application and submitting it to their county auditor's office.

"Minnesota leads the nation in voter turnout and this year we are preparing for record turnout," Ritchie said. "While all eligible voters can register on Election Day, registering now will help you vote more quickly in November."

The cut-off date to pre-register for the Sept. 9 primary is Aug. 19 and for the general election, the date is Oct. 14. Those who register prior to the deadline will not have to register again on Election Day.

Voter registration applications are available at the secretary of state's Web site at Voter registration applications are also available at county government offices.
