Two injured after a deer jumps in front of motorcycle in Otter Tail County

A deer caused a motorcycle accident in Otter Tail County Friday afternoon, injuring the driver and passenger.

Russell Kottke, 49, of St. Michael, Minn., was northbound on County Highway 127 when a deer came out of the east ditch around 2:20 p.m., according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

Kottke lost control of the 1999 Polaris Victory, and was thrown from the motorcycle, along with his passenger, 46-year-old Cynthia Kottke, also of St. Michael.

Both sustained injuries, though not life threatening, and were trans-ported to Perham Memorial Hospital by ambulance and then to Fargo. Neither was wearing a helmet.
