Glyndon man taken to hospital after motorcycle accident
Emergency responders have taken a 55-year-old Glyndon, Minn., man to a Fargo hospital following a motorcycle accident east of Dilworth.
Patrick Fortier was headed westbound on U.S. Highway 10 at the interchange with Minnesota Highway 336 when he tried to avoid a jug of motor oil that was left on the highway, according to Minnesota State Trooper Jesse Grabow.
Fortier lost control and ran off the road, suffering cuts and scrapes to his head, Grabow said.
The plastic jug of motor oil had been crushed and vehicles traveling the road were transporting leaking oil onto the interchange, Grabow said.
Initial dispatch reports stated that a semi was involved in the accident, but were incorrect. A few semis were in the vicinity when the accident occurred, but were not involved, Grabow said.
Fortier was not wearing a helmet and his condition was not immediately known.
His injuries are not considered life threatening, Grabow said.
A Minnesota Department of Transportation crew will be sent out to clean up the oil.
