Man hurt when car hits moose in Polk County
A 20-year-old man was hurt when his car struck a moose late Sunday on a highway in Polk County, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
Dustin Rahja of Floodwood was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt westbound on U.S. 2 about 9:25 p.m. when a bull moose came out of the ditch. Rahja was unable to stop and hit the moose, totaling the car, the patrol said.
Rahja was taken to Riverview Hospital in Crookston for a minor injury. He was wearing his seat belt, and the airbag deployed. Road conditions were wet at the time.
Floodwood is about 45 miles northwest of Duluth
