Gas nearing $3 mark in Minnesota and North Dakota

FARGO - Gasoline prices continue to fall in Minnesota and North Dakota, with some stations closing in on $3 a gallon, according to AAA's price survey.

The Fargo-Moorhead average listed on the association's Web site this morning was $3.134 for a gallon of regular gas, but many stations are selling for $3.089. One station, the Loaf 'N Jug at 1833 S. University Drive, was listed at $3.039.

Along U.S. Highway 2 between Bagley and Crookston this weekend, many stations sold regular unleaded gas at about $3.10 a gallon.

The Web site is listing gas as low as $2.95 a gallon at several stations in Cambridge, and $2.98 a gallon at several stations in Buffalo. The lowest prices in Detroit Lakes is reported to be $3.17 per gallon on the Web site.

And the affiliated site lists several stations offering gas for $2.99 a gallon, mostly in Anoka County.

The last time a gallon of regular unleaded hovered around the $3.00 mark locally was back in March.

The statewide average is around $3.13 a gallon, compared with a national average of $3.43 a gallon.

In Grand Forks and East Grand Forks this weekend, some stations advertised regular unleaded gas at about $3.30 a gallon.

Oil prices fell to an eight-month low below $90 a barrel on world markets today.
