Daughter pulls mother from burning house near Frazee
FRAZEE - A daughter pulled her 93-year-old mother from a burning house Thursday night on Lake Six in rural Frazee, authorities said.
Vivian Jacobson and her daughter, Lynelle Jacobson, 52, were both injured in the fire. They were taken to a local hospital and transferred to a burn unit in St. Paul, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office said.
The Frazee and Vergas fire departments responded to the blaze reported at 8:41 p.m. at 51686 Lake Six Road.
Vergas Fire Chief Justin Helmke said he arrived to find flames shooting from the windows of a corner of the house, but no one was inside.
"The daughter arrived home and the house was on fire, and she opened the door and after several attempts was able to drag her mother from the house," he said.
The sheriff's office and state fire marshal's office are investigating the cause of the fire.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within seven or eight minutes after arriving, Helmke said.
The single-story house likely is a complete loss, he said.
