ALEXANDRIA, Minn. - Three people are dead and a fourth is in critical condition after a crash today on Interstate 94 near Alexandria.

Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Dan Vickmark said a car lost control while merging onto the freeway, prompting a semi driver to pull over and try to help.

The driver of a third vehicle then lost control and crashed into the other two. All of those killed or injured were in the third vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle - a 2007 Toyota Corolla - to lose control was Thomas L. Martin, 58, of Fergus Falls. Anne E. Martin, 90, also of Fergus Falls, was a passenger in the car. Neither suffered any apparent injuries.

The State Patrol also reported Darrell E. Albertson, 69, of Fergus Falls, was a driver in a 2006 Peterbilt semi tractor. He also was uninjured.

The State Patrol did not release names of the driver or passengers in the third vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer.

The State Patrol is reconstructing the crash. Vickmark says the interstate is in decent condition, but that ramps and bridge decks are still slippery.
