Senior prom Saturday; other weekend events
The eighth annual Senior Citizens' Prom takes place this Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Holy Rosary Parish Center.
According to event organizer Patti Spry, there will be a 5 p.m. mass, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The dancing starts once the dinner has concluded, at approximately 7 p.m., with music provided by The Colonels, a group from Hankinson, S.D.
The annual event is hosted by Holy Rosary's sophomore, junior and senior students, with assistance from their parents. Because they need an accurate head count for the meal, those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Holy Rosary at 218-847-1393.
If the cool sound of jazz is more to your liking, come hear The Elevators -- modern jazz with a lift -- at The Lodge on Lake Detroit this Saturday, Jan. 24. The group will perform from 7-10 p.m. in the Fireside Lobby at the Lodge on Lake Detroit, as part of its Live at the Lodge concert series. There is a $5 cover charge (waived for hotel guests). Call 218-847- 8439 or 800-761-8439 (toll free) for more information.
Ulen-Hitterdal's Top Hat Theatre will feature Minneapolis pianist Mary Beth Carlson in concert, starting at 7:30 p.m. Selected Ulen-Hitterdal choir students will be featured during the concert. Show tickets are $10-$15. Call 218-596-8853 for more information.
The Ulen-Hitterdal School band and choir students and parents will be hosting a Spaghetti Supper from 5-7 p.m. prior to the Mary Beth Carlson concert.
