Moorhead street closed for weekend after water main leak
MOORHEAD - Crews were to begin work today to repair a water main leak on 14th Street South near Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The stretch of road between Sixth and Ninth avenues is expected to be closed through the weekend.
The stretch of Fourteenth Street South is a one-way northbound and is expected to reopen Monday morning. Residents and motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route, according to a news release issued by Moorhead city officials.
The leak, which officials said was believed to be caused by cold temperatures and aging pipes, forced MSUM buildings to go without water about noon Friday.
Water service was restored later Friday.
City crews planned to begin removing water and ice from the road surface today.
