Microsoft Word class

Come to DL Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a basic Microsoft Word computer class. During the session, you will learn to create a new document, use toolbars and menus, copy and paste, align text, change fonts, and add clip art. It is ideal to know the parts of a computer and their functions as well as how to use the mouse and open programs.

Relay for Life kick-off

The Viking Library System bookmobile is at Dent School from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Dent Bank from 11 to 11:30 a.m., Richville Post Office from 11:45 a.m. to noon and Vergas Municipal Building from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

DL World Day of Prayer

First Lutheran Church, DL, hosts World Day of Prayer with a service at noon. Men, women and children celebrate in 170 countries. The women of Papua New Guinea have written the World Day of Prayer 2009 service, "In Christ, there are many members, yet one body."

Osteoporosis program

Barb Olson speaks on bone builders, the osteoporosis exercise program, from 11 .m. to noon in the Senior Citizen Community Center. For more info, call 847-5823 or 844-5824.

Fish dinner

The Knights of Columbus, Frazee Council 12581, hosts a fish dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Basement, Frazee. Adults are $7, kids 7-14 are $5 and 6 and under are free. Everyone is welcome.

Humane society benefit

A benefit for the Humane Society of the Lakes begins at 7 p.m. in the Speak Easy. There will be live Irish music by Poitin, a silent and live auction and drink and food specials. Tickets are $10 and available at Bliss or from HSL volunteers.

LP World Day of Prayer

Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park, hosts World Day of Prayer at 1 p.m. Eksjo is located on Highway 10, west of Lake Park.

Defensive Driving

Frazee-Vergas Community Education offers the Defensive Driving 4-hour refresher from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Cost is $24; Instructor Dave Bulik. Call 334-2525 to register.

Youth ski race

A youth cross country ski race begins at 2:30 p.m. at Maplelag Resort for ages 12 and under. Admission is $5. Adults may participate in the Lotvola Cup Ski Tour at 1 PM on the same day. Please visit for more details and directions.

DL Blades show

The DL Blades Figure Skating Club presents Carnival during its 10th anniversary. The show is at 7 p.m. in the Kent Freeman Sports Arena.

'Extra Ordinary Heroes'

Lakes Figure Skating Club presents "Extra Ordinary Heroes" ice show at 4 p.m. in the Kent Freeman Arena, DL. Skaters age 4 to adult, with special guest skaters from Fargo, will perform. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

Fish fry

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Callaway, hosts its annual fish fry from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. It is a free-will offering.

Legion Auxiliary breakfast

The DL American Legion Auxiliary serves breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Choose from build your own omelet, pancakes, French toast or biscuits & gravy.

Ingrid Bergman movie


Join the DLCCC for an afternoon of free movies starring Ingrid Bergman, trivia, prizes and more in the Holmes Ballroom. The movies will begin at 1 p.m. Pull up a lawn chair (or bring your own) and re-live the glamour, elegance and mystery of old Hollywood. Concessions available. Music scholarship concert

The Detroit Lakes School Music Department presents a Scholarship Concert at 7 p.m. in the George Simpson Middle School Auditorium. Cost of the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children in grades K-12 or $10 per immediate family. Proceeds from the concert will provide scholarship money to students who are pursuing degrees in music education. Performers include Doc & the Scrubs, Roosevelt 4th Grade Classes, Rossman 5th Grade Choir, Middle School 6th Grade Vocal Ensembles, Laker Singers and the Laker Jazz Band.
