Ponsford man appears for starting fire
A Ponsford man made his first appearance Monday in Becker County District court on a felony charge of negligent fires in connection with a Feb. 15, 2009, incident in Becker County in which a garage a a Ponsford residence was destroyed by fire.
Fredrick Willis Jackson, 30, of 48828 Highway 225, Ponsford, and Kateri Irene Warren, 24, of Loop 25, Bear Clan Drive, Ogema, are facing identical felony charges for allegedly burning clothes in a stove that had no stove pipe, which caused a fire that quickly burned out of control and destroyed the garage and its contents.
According to the criminal complaint, the two were in the garage because they had been drinking and were refused admittance to the home.
Jackson's next appearance is set for March 9, while Warren will make her next court appearance March 23. Jackson's bail has been set at $20,000 cash or bond.
