Interstate 94 between Fargo and Jamestown closed

FARGO - Interstate 94 between Fargo and Jamestown closed at 7 tonight due to weather.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation announced the closure shortly before 6 p.m.

The Transportation Department, in coordination with the North Dakota Highway Patrol, said the decision was made based on blowing and drifting snow and zero visibility. It will remain closed tonight through Tuesday morning, when officials will re-evaluate conditions on the road.

Motorists should be advised that snow plow operators will continue working until early evening and will resume operations early tomorrow morning, a news release said.

A no-travel advisory is also in effect for portions of central and eastern North Dakota, including highways in the Napoleon, Jamestown, Edgeley, Ellendale Cooperstown, Valley City, Casselton, Fargo, Hillsboro, and Mayville areas.

The no-travel advisory includes Interstate 29 from Fargo to Buxton.

Heavy snow with blowing snow is reducing visibility and causing areas of compacted snow and ice covered roadways, according to the Transportation Department.
