Monday's rain sets record in Fargo

FARGO - Fargo received a record rainfall Monday for the date, receiving nine-tenths of an inch, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

The rainfall broke the record of .64-inch in 1975 and 1994.

Total precipitation in Fargo has been 2.51 inches for the month and 4.35 inches since Jan. 1. The amount of total precipitation since the start of the year is more than 2 inches above normal.

The weather service predicts Fargo will receive less than a tenth of an inch of new rain, but higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

Overall, Fargo has received 61.5 inches of snow for the winter. Snow is expected to move into the region tonight, with accumulations between 1 and 2 inches in Fargo possible. The area also could receive snow on Wednesday, with less than 1 inch possible, according to the weather service.
