One arrested after two-vehicle accident in Moorhead sends woman to hospital with substantial injuries
MOORHEAD - Police here arrested one man following a two-vehicle accident Monday night that sent a 19-year-old woman to the hospital with substantial injuries.
Authorities responded about 11:51 p.m. Monday to the intersection of Main Avenue Southeast and the westbound Interstate 94 exit ramp after a report of a vehicle making a left turn in front of another vehicle, according to a news release.
Chelsey Landa, 18, Dilworth, was traveling southwest on 34th Street South, crossing Main Avenue to enter onto the westbound on-ramp to I-94. Mitchell Strand, 23, of Kensington, Minn., had exited I-94 from westbound travel onto the off-ramp and was attempting to make a left turn to go north on Main Avenue, the release said.
Strand made a left turn in front of Landa, the release said.
Strand and Landa appeared uninjured and refused medical treatment at the scene. Strand's passenger, Heather Norris, of Barrett, Minn., was taken to Innovis Hospital by F-M Ambulance due to her substantial injuries, the release said.
Strand was arrested on suspicion of gross misdemeanor third-degree driving while intoxicated, felony criminal vehicular operation and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, the release said.
He is currently being held at the Clay County Jail.
