Willmar man arrested for leaving 5-year-old in charge of toddlers
WILLMAR -- A Willmar man was arrested Thursday night for leaving a 5-year-old girl in charge of two toddlers.
Luis Alonso Alberto-Zambrano, 25, was arraigned Friday on a gross misdemeanor charge of child neglect.
According to Willmar police, a resident at the Willow Run Apartment said she was walking down the hall of the apartment building when a little girl opened the door of an apartment. The crying child reportedly told the woman that she "didn't know how to feed the babies."
The woman stayed with the children for about half an hour. When an adult still had not returned, she called authorities at 10:30 p.m.
Under the Minnesota Department of Human Services guidelines, a child under the age of 8 should not be left alone and a child under the age of 11 should not be baby sitting younger children.
