Two Detroit Lakes residents injured in boating accident

Two boats collided on Lake Lizzie during the early hours of the 2009 fishing opener. According to the Fergus Falls Daily Journal:

At about 7:45 am. Saturday, a boat driven by Derek Brandt, 29, of Detroit Lakes, struck a boat driven by Russell Henegar, 56, of West Fargo, N.D., according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office report. Brandt was looking at his fish locator at the time of the collision, according to the report.

Brandt's passenger, Jessica Jorgenson, 24, of Detroit Lakes, was thrown from the boat and was not wearing a life jacket at the time, according to the report.

Both Jorgenson and Brandt sustained injuries and were taken by Pelican Rapids Ambulance to St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes, where they were treated and released, according to the report.
