Minnesota to honor Vietnam era veterans

Veterans organizations from around the state and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) are teaming up for what is expected to be the largest Vietnam Veteran event in Minnesota history.

More than 5,000 veterans, families, friends and supporters are expected to gather June 13 on the Minnesota State Capitol Grounds to honor and remember all Veterans who served during the Vietnam era.

Hosted by MDVA, this event is designed to unite the Minnesota community in support, gratitude and celebration of the brave men and women who served during the Vietnam War era. In addition to the formal program at 2 p.m., the newly minted Minnesota Medal of Honor Plaque will be dedicated during a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the Court of Honor.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a roll call of all service members killed in action and mission in action from the Vietnam War, a remembrance ceremony, multiple aircraft flyovers, guest speakers, Vietnam memorabilia, food, reunions, resources for veterans and families, live entertainment, a vintage car show and more.

A replica of the National Vietnam Memorial Wall will also be on display.

Vietnam era Veterans can register online or by calling (651) 296-2562.
