Rainfall swells Red River above flood stage in Fargo
FARGO - The Red River is on the rise in Fargo once again, after heavy rains - particularly along the river's tributaries - earlier in the week.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the river at Fargo but says only minor flooding is expected.
The river is forecast to top minor flood stage of 18 feet today before cresting on Saturday at 1 foot over flood stage, and stay there into Sunday.
At 19 feet, the dam south of the Main Avenue bridge between Fargo and Moorhead is under water.
Earlier this spring, Fargo residents fought off two crests of the Red River - the first at a record 40.82 feet and the second at 34 feet.
