Ag experts featured at Big Iron seminars

WEST FARGO -- While kicking tires and checking out the new technology, growers attending the Big Iron Farm Show, Sept. 15-17, are encouraged to visit the Red River Farm Network Issues and Events Center.

Located at the heart of the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, between the Agriculture and Commercial Buildings, the RRFN Issues & Events Center is home to seminars throughout the Big Iron Farm Show.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, starting at 10:30 a.m., the seminar features two leading U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) officials. Jonathon Coppess, administrator of the Farm Service Agency (FSA), and Heyward Baker, program director of the Risk Management Agency, will outline USDA's vision for rural America. With the delayed crop development, crop insurance questions will certainly get attention in this session.

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven and Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson will discuss issues impacting their states on Wednesday, Sept. 16, starting at 10:30 a.m.

A farm policy round table discussion is on the schedule for Thursday, Sept. 17, also starting at 10:30 a.m. Farm leaders representing the American Soybean Association, National Association of Wheat Growers and Growth Energy will be featured.

Each afternoon, starting at 1:30 p.m., there will be a market outlook session. Industry-leading market analysts will provide insight into the volatile markets. In addition, the North Dakota State University Extension Service is hosting daily seminars on timely issues, including grain drying tips and the feeding of immature corn. Daily seminars on land values, land rents and investments are also planned.
