Freeze warning in effect tonight, snow may follow

GRAND FORKS - The first hard freeze of the fall season is on its way, and some snow could follow it, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

A freeze warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. today to 10 a.m. Friday, with temperatures expected to fall into the mid-20s for all of eastern North Dakota and northwest and west-central Minnesota.

A weather system that may produce some snowfall across the region is possible for Friday afternoon into Saturday, the weather service said. The system may produce minor accumulations late Friday afternoon and Friday night, along with some slick roads Friday night into Saturday.

This should be the first hard freeze of the fall season, bringing an end to the growing season, the weather service said.

Cold weather will persist into next week, with temperatures well below normal, the weather service said.
