4-Hers head to horse competition

Becker County 4-H State Horse Show trip winners include, from left, Danielle Eidenschink, Lindsey Bjorgan, Kateri Dornbusch, Maisie Johnson, Megan Wold, Amber Wolbeck and Lauranna Varno.

Seven Becker County 4-Hers were awarded a trip to the Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show as a result of their performances at the Becker County Fair.

Unfortunately, Cody Johnson and Kateri Dornbusch were unable to attend the State Show due to horse injuries.

Stevie Jo Giese, as an alternate winner, stepped in as a substitute and went on to win 1st place in Barrels-9th grade. In addition, she had the overall top barrel run for the entire show. Amber Wolbeck was another 1st place winner, placing at the top of her class in HorseTraining-Step 4.

In addition to these top two, the following also were ribbon winners in their respective classes: Lindsey Bjorgan (grade 10) -- 7th place in Western Horsemanship and Trail, 8th place in Hunt Seat Equitation; Danielle Eidenschink (grade 11) -- 9th place in Hunt Seat Pleasure, and 7th place in both Western Horsemanship and Western Pleasure; Maisie Johnson (grade 12) -- 10th place in Key Race; Lauranna Varno (grade 12) -- 4th place in Pole Weaving; 5th place in Key Race and 7th place in Barrels. Kylie Walthers also attended the show as an alternate.
