CEO of Perham Memorial Hospitall resigns

PERHAM - The chief executive officer of Perham Memorial Hospital has resigned to take a position with a nonprofit organization in the Twin Cities.

Chuck Hofius, who led the hospital for 12 years, submitted his resignation Wednesday at a meeting of the hospital's board of directors.

The resignation comes only a few weeks since construction crews broke ground on a new Perham hospital. The project is estimated at nearly $40 million and opening is projected for 2011.

Hospital officials said that Hofius' resignation will not have an impact on the building project.

Hofius has accepted a position with Volunteers of America as regional director of the organization's older adult services division, according to PMHH spokesperson Sue Von Ruden.

"MeritCare is in the process of looking for a replacement," said Von Ruden. "We will more than likely have an interim CEO while a search is done for a permanent replacement."

Hofius was selected as the 2006 Administrator of the Year by the Minnesota Hospital and Home Association.
