Detroit Lakes police to tow cars parked over 48 hours on city streets

Motorists in Detroit Lakes are advised to move their cars before Thursday morning as the police department will be issuing tickets to vehicles parked on public streets that haven't moved for 48 hours.

Police Chief Kel Keena said the plan isn't out of the ordinary, but with the recent blizzard, it's easier to see if anyone has left their vehicles in the same spot.

Cars that haven't been moved will be ticketed and attempts will be made to contact the registered owner.

If a vehicle isn't moved by Friday, it will be towed, Keena said.
