Woman sues Grand Forks salon for scalp burns

A Grand Forks woman claims that a beauty salon's negligence left her with second-degree burns on her scalp.

Sandra Norgard is suing the Hairapy salon in Grand Forks for unspecified damages. Meanwhile, the salon denies Norgard's claims.

According to a civil complaint filed in June, Norgard had her hair colored at Hairapy, 510 N. Washington St., on March 10, 2008, but wasn't happy with the outcome, so she went back for more coloring March 14, 2008. After the additional coloring, Norgard was put under a hair dryer for 40 to 45 minutes, the complaint states.

As a result, the complaint says, she suffered irritation, redness and burning on her scalp and swelling of her face and eyelids. Norgard visited a doctor March 17, 2008, and was treated for second-degree burns to her scalp, according to the complaint.

The case is set to go to trial Dec. 9 in state District Court.
