Area students earn NDSU scholarships
Two area students were recently awarded scholarships to attend North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. beginning the fall semester of 2010.
Megan Erickson, daughter of Keith and Karen Erickson, Lake Park, received the NDSU Presidential Honor Scholarship, which totals $10,000 over four years. The scholarship recognizes high academic achievement and requires the student to score 29 or above on the ACT.
Erickson plans to major in biology and computer science. In high school, she was active in National Honor Society, yearbook, dance team, softball, volleyball, Just for Kix, High School Challenge, 4-H Club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She was also student council president and a member of the state Knowledge Bowl team.
Kate Hilfer, daughter of Don and Nadine Hilfer, Audubon, received the NDSU Arthur W. and Clara Cupler Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $500. The scholarship recognizes high academic achievement.
Hilfer plans to major in apparel and textiles and minor in business administration. In high school, she was active in National Honor Society, volleyball, Spanish club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She was also a Girls State delegate.
