DL teenager facing felony drug charge
A Detroit Lakes teenager will make his first appearance Tuesday, Dec. 14 in Becker County District Court on a felony drug charge.
Dalton James Meyer, 16, of 15309 Sunset Hill Dr., Detroit Lakes, is facing one count of fifth degree possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.
The charge stems from an Oct. 14 incident in which Meyer and two other male occupants were reported to the Detroit Lakes Police Department for smoking marijuana while parked in the Detroit Lakes City Park around 2:30 p.m.
A Detroit Lakes police officer pulled over Meyer's car shortly after the complaint came in; he smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, marijuana was found, as well as a blue and orange capsule containing the drug Vyvanse, used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
