Frazee girl cagers suffer 2 losses

The Frazee Hornets had trouble finding the basket in the second half Saturday in a 64-31 loss at Crosby-Ironton.

"The game was close till the last few minutes of the first half," Frazee head coach Dave Conzemius said. "C-I shot the ball exceptionally well (13-for-17 in the second half) while we really struggled from the field."

Crosby-Ironton (5-1) led at halftime, 34-22.

The Rangers held Frazee to just nine second half points.

Alexis Tappe led the Hornets with nine points. McKinzie Tangen added seven.

Frazee (2-3, 0-1 HOL) will play in the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Tournament Dec. 28-30.

The Hornets first round game will be against Sebeka at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28.

A balanced scoring attack by Wadena-Deer Creek was too much for Frazee to overcome Friday night as the Wolverines picked up a 69-37 road win.

W-DC had five players in double figures, led by Caitlin Volkman and Emily Miron, who each scored 14.

The Wolverines led 36-22 at the half, but really turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, holding the Hornets to 15 points after the break.

Tappe led the Lady Hornets with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Sadie Stender added eight points and Kristi Smith had seven points.
