Hurray for snow

I know what you are all thinking. "SNOW!! Wow, I've been waiting for this for such a long time!" Good joke right? Of course, that's exactly what I'm thinking.

It's been snowing for about a week, but it has finally stayed on the ground for more than two hours. I am absolutely thrilled. Skiing has started, cross country has come to an official close, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. (And so are my mashed potatoes.)

The first snow of the season fell on the day that I was sent home sick. A teacher told me that I had to leave the building. You know, I could contaminate everybody if I stayed. So as I was at home, I noticed that it was snowing. I absolutely freaked out. I was as giddy as a little child. Laughing to myself, I went out and let the snowflakes fall on my tongue. I even twirled around in my yard.

It didn't stay, making my very sad. For a couple days, it came and left over and over again. Finally, it stayed. The lake even froze over. Winter is finally here.

With winter here, fall is obviously over. The leaves are gone and the roads are slippery. Cross-country is over too. The cross-country banquet was on Sunday night, and it was filled with laughs and some tears. It was hard to watch the coaches start to lose it. It was just so darn sad. It seems as though everybody is leaving, which kind of stinks.

With the ending of cross-country, it's the beginning of the ski season. I have a feeling that this year is going to be great. Our team is tiny, but those of us remaining from last year's team know what needs to be done.

My friend, Veronica, almost didn't join, but we eventually convinced her to stay in it. It's strange not having my brother Dylan here to ski with me. He has always been there to motivate me to go and ski with him. Usually he pushes me to actually get up and do something. It's definitely weird, but I'll just have to get used to it.

Well, the snow is finally here and I am more than overjoyed, as you can all tell. Winter brings new things that I know we all love. (That was sarcasm by the way.) Even though some of you may find the snow annoying and too cold, I absolutely love it. Go out there and enjoy it!
