With three talented seniors returning, along with two other sophomores who bring in some solid experience, some higher expectations are being sought by the Lake Park-Audubon girls' golf team.

Leading the way is senior Brianna Wuollet, who qualified for the Class 1A state meet last year. But equally as talented are senior teammates Maria Veit and Jess Hovelson, who will give the Lady Raiders a top three rotation.

"All of them are pretty equal and if they continue to improve, our goal is to make state as a team," said LP-A head coach Marge Beaudine.

The Lady Raiders' depth will be increased by sophomores Laynee Cole and Lindsey Olson, while Beaudine will keep the sixth spot open for some of the other younger golfers.

"We have a few new golfers out this year, so we will be keeping that sixth spot open for competition," the LP-A coach said. "Our focus will be being more consistent on the second shot. It seemed to be our downfall last season, since our putting and driving was pretty decent."

The Lady Raiders will have up to two meets a week, which are Pine to Prairie Conference nine-hole meets. But Beaudine has added some 18-hole invites to help her golfers transition to the longer meets, since that is what sub-sections and sections are.

"It should help out, since some of our girls were pretty tired on the back nine in last year's section meet," Beaudine added.
