Rosemaling, photo exhibit opens today at Trinity

Mary Morton will display her rosemaling art and photography in an exhibit at Detroit Lakes' Trinity Lutheran Church, starting today and running through Sunday, Feb. 3. Morton started rosemaling in 1974; this exhibit represents a small portion of the work she has done over the past 39 years.1 / 2

Starting today (Wednesday) and continuing through Sunday, Feb. 3, artist Mary Morton is exhibiting her work in photography and rosemaling at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1401 Madison Ave., Detroit Lakes.

Morton began rosemaling in 1974. She fell in love with the Norwegian folk art. Other folk art with which she is involved is Tole painting (German folk art), Celtic knotwork (Irish folk art), and Ukrainian egg decorating.

The rosemaling and photography in this exhibit represent a small sample of Morton's work over the course of 39 years. The art exhibited at the church is available for purchase.

The exhibit is open for public viewing every Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
