Genealogical Society

Heart O’Lakes Genealogical Society meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. BC Republicans

Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the DL city offices.

PEO Chapter FG

P.E.O Chapter FG meets at 7 p.m. in the home of Gothe Jensvold, with Kirsten Vogt and Beve Melgaard assisting. Program will be presented by Sue Boyle. Dessert will be served.

Daughters of American Revolution meeting

The local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter meets at 1 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Alex Sahr will speak about his book, Memoirs of a B-24 Bomber Veteran in WWII.  The public is invited, as well as women interested in becoming members of DAR.

Holy Rosary MS orientation

Holy Rosary Middle School orientation night is at 6:30 p.m. in the school library at Holy Rosary School. For more information, call 847-5306.

Friendly Squares dance

The Friendly Squares host a square dance in the Century School, Park Rapids. There will be a workshop from 7:30 to 8 p.m., followed by dancing from 8 to 10.

Saturday, April 13

Larimer benefit

A spaghetti dinner and silent auction benefit for family of Evelyn Larimer is from 5 to 8 p.m. in Grace Community Church, Osage. It is a free-will donation. Larimer passed away unexpectedly in February and left behind five children and her husband.

Rotary blood drive

The Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary Club sponsors a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Boys and Girls Club.

Prayer walk for education

A prayer walk for education is at 1 p.m. at the Detroit Lakes High School by the tennis courts. This is for area schools and is sponsored by the Lakes Area Prayer Wall in conjuction with a nationwide prayer initiative with Hartland Apostolic Prayer Network and Minnesota’s Call to the Wall. There will also be a time of corporate worship and prayer Saturday at 7 p.m. in The Refuge, Detroit Lakes. Teachers and students encouraged to participate.

Lake Country Woodcarvers

Lakes Country Woodcarvers meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the storefront next to White Drug in the Washington Square Mall. The public is invited to attend and ask questions.

Healthy living

Pastor Maggie Aul and Beth Ley are speaking during the Healthy Living for the spirit, soul and body event from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Holiday Inn, DL. There will be pH testing, green detox smoothie samples, heart tests, weight loss information and more. The event is free.


Hawley Art Show

The Hawley Art Show and Sale is April 18-21 in the Hawley Community Center. Artists can enter their work April 13-4 from 1 to 5 p.m. Registration is $5 per entry for adults and $3 for students. For more info, contact Sandy at 483-3296 or Donna at 483-4238.
