Women’s Health event is a success
Life Happens Women’s Retreat hosted by Sanford Health and Ecumen Detroit Lakes on April 18 was a success.
“I think everyone was ready for a night out,” event organizer Sandy Lia said. “Over 400 women attended. Can you imagine all these women in one space, laughing, talking, dancing, eating, wine tasting, learning and sharing some really great information regarding health, wellness and beauty. Yeah, it was crazy fun.”
The ladies were greeted at the Sanford Clinic door to receive their very own “sag bag,” filled with trinkets, like eyeglass cleaner, lip gloss, magnetic clips, jar openers as well as brochures and other information on their services.
Keynote speaker Renee Rongen signed books at the front door while others gathered around to watch Zumba dancers, check out over 45 venders that lined part of the upper lobby and also the entire lower level, enjoy appetizers provided by the venders, as well as the wine tasting provided by the Detroit Lakes Municipal Liquor Store.
Breanna Adams, another key organizer, said that every seat was taken and many were standing, leaning, sitting wherever they could find a spot.
“Women wanted to listen to our Sanford providers speak on subjects such as women’s stress, skin care, menopause and vitamins, nutrition and breast cancer awareness. The women were engaged, asking lots of questions,” she said.
Rongen, award-winning humorous and inspirational speaker, author and business consultant, ended the evening with her real life stories.
Erin Swyter, who also helped with this year’s planning, said she believes that women in the area really do care about health, wellness and beauty, and it seems obvious by the overwhelming attendance at this event.
“It has been a great and fun experience. We are all just so happy with the results of this event and are excited to hold a future event,” she said.
