Whiskers, wags and wine

The Marshmallow Foundation hosts a wine tasting fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. at Seven Sisters Spirits, Highway 59 South. Tickets are $25 and include entry, wine tasting and light hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a silent auction and music.

Church rummage sale

United Methodist Church, DL, hosts a rummage sale from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. There will be coffee and coffee cake for $1.

Peace pole dedication

Detroit Lakes Rotary clubs host a peace pole dedication from noon to 12:30 p.m. in the Essentia-Rotary Park on Washington Avenue across from Holy Rosary Church.

Alpha Theta Chapter

The Alpha Theta Chapter meets in the Holiday Inn, with a social time at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30. The program is Marcia Potvin speaking on her trip to India. The business meeting will follow the program.

Lake Region Garden Club The Lake Region Garden Club meets at 6 p.m. in Country Fields Greenhouse. Belynda Nicholauson will present the program and will introduce us to what’s new in plants for this year.  Guests are welcome.

The Minnesota DNR offers a volunteer training workshop for citizens interested in informing the public about aquatic invasive species and how to slow their spread. Syttende Mai smorgasbord

Solem Lutheran Church, Hawley, hosts the Syttende Mai smorgasbord from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults are $11, ages 6-12 are $4 and preschool are free. Everyone is welcome.

Gospel concert

Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church hosts the Northern Lights Gospel Quartet gospel concert at 7 p.m. There will be a free will offering to cover expenses. Bars and coffee will be served following the concert.
