Correction:Park Rapids man injured in two-car collision on Highway 59; other driver leaves scene

A Park Rapids man was injured in a two-car crash Friday night on Highway 59 in Otter Tail County.

Wayne K. Sorenson, 65, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. A passenger in the car, Diane M. Sorenson, 62, of Park Rapids, was not injured.

The Sorensons were northbound on Highway 59 in a 2011 Honda CRV, following a 2000 GMC Sierra driven by an unidentified man.

The Sierra tignaled to turn left onto 270th and turned into the oncoming traffic lane. As the Honda was passing the Sierra in the northbound lane of Highway 59, the Sierra abruptly returned to the northbound lane and struck the left front of the Honda.

The Sierra ended up in the ditch after losing a tire. The driver of the Sierra, not yet identified, suffered no apparent injuries and walked away from the scene before officers arrived, according to the State Patrol.

The accident occurred at 10:15 p.m. at milepost 225 on dry two-lane blacktop. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
