Woman hurt in car-semi crash in Detroit Lakes

A Rochert-area woman was injured in a SUV-semi crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes Wednesday afternoon.

According to the accident report, a GMC Terrain driven by Diane Peters, 71, was making a right-hand turn onto Highway 10 into town.

She made a wide turn and sideswiped a semi truck, eastbound on Highway 10.

The semi driver, Kelly Wiegel, 47, of West Fargo, wasn’t hurt.

Peters had to be extricated from the Terrain and was taken by ambulance to Essentia St. Mary’s hospital with neck and back injuries, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Police were assisted on the scene by firefighters, deputies, troopers, EMS workers, the Becker County Highway Department and Frazee Rescue.
