Crime and Accidents

The following items were taken from reports at the Becker County Sheriff's Department and Detroit Lakes Police Department.

Friday, Aug. 1

n at 11:08 a.m., a Fargo man and Detroit Lakes man were involved in a vehicle accident at Andrews Avenue and Central Street. The Fargo man was taken to St. Mary's and cited for failure to yield. The DL man was cited for no insurance.

n at 12:45 p.m., a Detroit Lakes woman and Lake Park man were involved in a vehicle accident at old Highway 10 and Jackson Avenue. There were no injuries.

n at 1:41 p.m., a landlord called the police department for advice after her a neighbor called her complaining about her tenant. The complainant said when the window was open, she could smell the tenants' Glade air freshener and it bothered her allergies. The police department did not take action.

n at 2:07 p.m., a Detroit Lakes man and Detroit Lakes woman were involved in an accident along Frazee Street. There were no injuries.

n at 5:38 p.m., a vehicle accident was reported on Highway 10 in front of the State Patrol building. There were no injuries.

n at 5:58 p.m., a pontoon ran into the dock at County Highway 22. There was minor damage reported.

n at 6:26 p.m., a man reported his wife's purse, which contained his wallet as well, had been stolen from a shopping cart at Central Market.

n at 7:52 p.m., an accident was reported north of the railroad tracks on County Road 54. A man was reported to be bleeding from the head, but he was up and pacing while talking on his cell phone.

n at 11 p.m., a man reported his stereo was stolen from his vehicle at Wal-Mart. It was valued at $200-$250. There were no signs of forced entry, and there are suspects on surveillance video.

Saturday, Aug. 2

n at 1 p.m., a sailboat tipped over on Detroit Lake. There were people on it, but they were rescued with no injuries.

Sunday, Aug. 3

n at 12:06 p.m., it was reported that a 20-year-old male was hit in the head with a rock by a woman while tubing down the Otter Tail River. The man went to St. Mary's for stitches and a CAT scan.

n at 4:01 p.m., a Verndale woman reported blank checks, her ID and credit cards were stolen from her purse while at St. Mary's.

Monday, Aug. 4

n at 9:05 a.m., a Detroit Lakes resident reported a stolen Trail Blazer. He said someone had come into the house, taken the keys and stolen the vehicle. He later called back to say the vehicle may have been repossessed.

n at 12:10 p.m., a Lake Park man hit a Detroit Lakes man's car that was legally parked in the MeritCare parking lot. There were no injuries.

n at 3:37 p.m., a Detroit Lakes woman reported two girls tearing around on an ATV. Police found two 12-year-old girls riding a 4-wheeler and advised them not to operate the ATV on the street.

n at 4:40 p.m., a Hawley man and Detroit Lakes man were involved in a vehicle accident at North Shore Drive and Washington Avenue. There were no injuries.
