Crime and Accidents

The following items were taken from reports at the Becker County Sheriff's Department and Detroit Lakes Police Department:

Friday, August 15

-- At 9:07 a.m. it was reported that a basement window on the 15000 block of Tosten Erickson Drive had been kicked in. Nothing appeared missing.

-- At 10:06 a.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a burglary on the 34000 block of Whaley's Road, Ponsford. A door was kicked in to gain entry. Taken were a Winchester shotgun, a stuffed deer head, a guitar and a deer antler chandelier.

-- At 11:03 a.m. a Frazee woman reported a stray dog had killed her dog on the 46000 block of 150th Street.

-- At 5:32 p.m. a White Earth woman reported the theft of a large-screen TV set from her home on the 33000 block of Loon Drive.

-- At 6:32 p.m. an attempted break-in was reported to a cabin on the 38000 block of County Road 35, Elbow Lake.

-- At 6:41 p.m. a house fire was reported at Fourth Street and Hawley Avenue, Lake Park.

Saturday, Aug. 16

-- At 5:28 a.m. a fight was reported between two women on the 1200 block of Loring Avenue. The 25-year-old woman and the 33-year-old woman were both intoxicated and both declined medical treatment or to press charges.

At the scene, a 27-year-old Naytahwaush man was arrested on a felony assault warrant. He is accused of biting off part of another man's finger during a fight.

-- At 10:28 a.m. a break-in with property damage was reported at the main lodge on Detroit Mountain.

-- At 12:24 p.m. a White Earth man reported the theft of $153 from his wallet. There is a suspect.

-- At 12:30 p.m. a Ponsford man reported a burglary. Entry was gained through a bathroom window.

-- At 3:04 p.m. a Fargo man reported 13 gallons of premium gas had been siphoned from his speedboat on the 24000 block of North Melissa Drive.

-- At 3:46 p.m. a Frazee woman reported the theft of five horses. There is a suspect.

-- At 3:53 p.m. a Moorhead man reported the theft of a catalytic converter, cut off his vehicle while it was parked at Middle Cormorant Lake, apparently for scrap value.

-- At 4:06 p.m. a four-plex on the 39000 block of 400th Avenue, Waubun, was broken into, with items missing and broken.

-- At 7:27 p.m. a White Earth woman reported the theft of money from the congregant housing unit.

-- At 8:31 p.m. a West Fargo resident reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked at Middle Cormorant Lake.

-- At 9:15 p.m. Detroit Lakes police received a report of a car stalled on the city beach. Vicki Jo Sings, 59, nearly ran into vehicles, pedestrians and trees before her vehicle ended up on the beach, according to the accident report. She tested negative for alcohol and was cited for careless driving and transported to The Refuge for a ride home.

Sunday, Aug. 17

-- At 9:40 a.m. a West Fargo man reported that someone had tried to steal the catalytic converter off his vehicle while it was parked at the Cotton Lake public access. Cuts were made, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

Monday, Aug. 18

-- At 10:03 a.m. a rural Pelican Rapids man reported that two hay bales had been set on fire near County Road 145.

-- At 2:50 p.m. a missing 1942 M-Farmall tractor was recovered by a deputy on the 22000 block of County Road 22.

-- At 8:25 p.m. a 28-year-old man was arrested on the 1300 block of Lori Avenue on two DLPD and one Clay County warrants.

-- At 8:57 p.m. an apparent burglary in progress was reported on the 26000 block of North Tower Road.

Tuesday, Aug. 19

-- At 2:49 a.m. a man reported that a car hit a tree and the tree hit his house on the 700 block of Holmes.

-- At 3:01 a.m. a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property after allegedly breaking a vehicle window behind the former Pump & Pantry.
