PARK RAPIDS - A man and boy escaped injuries in a rollover accident Wednesday morning in Hubbard County.

They were apparently in a group of cub scouts and parents, a bystander said.

The accident occurred about 10 a.m. on County Road 7, three miles north of Dorset.

"We got called from the camp to turn around and help them," the man said. The area is a few miles from Boy Scout Camp Wilderness on Bad Axe Lake, but it was unclear from the information the man provided if the scouts were affiliated with the camp.

The driver, identified as Bret Alan Westfall, 49, of Minneapolis, was on a cell phone calling for help while authorities and ambulance personnel called to the scene as a precaution checked the boy over. He sat quietly in a waiting car watching the scene.

"He (Westfall) said he noticed he was going off the highway and when he tried to correct, the gravel just grabbed his tires and he went over," the man said.

The Ford SUV sustained heavy damage in the accident, which backed up traffic on the two-lane roadway.

No other information was available at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Department.
