ATV burns up on SW Height of Land Road

An ATV caught fire Wednesday after it tipped on its side and gas spilled onto the engine's manifold, which was hot enough to ignite into flames.

No one was hurt in the incident, reported at 3:55 p.m. on S.W. Height of Land Road. A woman and two children had been riding the large Class II side-by-side ATV when it tipped onto its side on a ridgeline.

They were walking away to get help and were a good distance from the vehicle when it caught fire, according to Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon. The ATV was destroyed in the incident.
