MOORHEAD -- A 27-year-old Ulen woman driving a pickup was killed in a head-on collision with a beet truck Saturday morning on Highway 75 near 70th Avenue North in Moorhead.

Afton E. Braseth was traveling alone in the pickup, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver of the empty beet truck, 63-year-old Robert Poehls of Barnesville, Minn., suffered minor injuries.

State Patrol Lt. Chuck Backes said Braseth's white Ford F-150 pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 75 and crossed over into the northbound lane. The beet truck driver tried to avoid the collision, but was unable.

The pickup came to rest in the ditch northwest of the intersection.

Highway 75 was closed for a time in the area of the accident.

Moorhead and Dilworth fire and police departments assisted the State Patrol and the Clay County Sheriff's Department.
