Crime and Accidents

The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department.

Friday, Feb. 5

• At 4:05 p.m. two people were cited for shoplifting at Walmart, a 24-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. About $200 worth of goods was involved.

Saturday, Feb. 6

• At 1:59 a.m. the theft of a red 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was reported by a man on the 600 block of West Avenue in Detroit Lakes.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for auto theft, second-degree DWI and fifth-degree assault.

• At 6:39 a.m. a light pole was knocked down, causing a downed power line in an alley near Reynolds Avenue in Detroit Lakes. No injuries were reported.

• At 7:39 a.m. a rollover accident occurred two miles west of Detroit Lakes on Highway 10. St. Mary's EMS responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

• At 9:32 a.m. a Frazee woman reported a one-vehicle rollover on Highway 10 near Acorn Lake. St. Mary's EMS responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

• At 12:56 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported being assaulted at a party the previous night. He was taken to the hospital.

• At 2:10 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a fish house break-in on Little Detroit Lake. Taken were eight fishing poles and three tackle boxes. Entry was gained by prying off a lock.

• At 1:40 p.m. a 34-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant and cited for shoplifting at Walmart.

• At 6:14 p.m. an Isanti man reported a break-in to a travel trailer on the 31000 block of County Road 37, in North Round Lake Township. Taken were a refrigerator, microwave oven, TV set, radio and kitchen utensils.

Sunday, Feb. 7

• At 1:45 a.m. a fight was reported at the Holiday Inn bar. A 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were separated and sent on their way.

• At 10:55 p.m. a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with DWI after a foot chase near County Road 131.

Monday, Feb. 8

• At 9:10 a.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported that a red 440 Polaris snowmobile had been left on Little Detroit Lake near the Pavilion for the past three or four nights, and he was concerned it would be stripped for parts.

• At 10:54 a.m. police received complaints that the northbound lane on Roosevelt Avenue near the Middle School was icy and vehicles were having trouble making it to the top of the hill.

• At 4 p.m. a school bus-motor vehicle accident was reported on West Lake Drive and Rossman Avenue. No injuries were reported.
