Audubon woman injured in two-car accident
A two-car accident Monday resulted in an Audubon woman going to the hospital by ambulance.
The crash occurred about noon at the junction of highways 10 and 59 in Detroit Lakes.
Mechelle Renae Howieson, 32, was eastbound on Highway 10 in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado.
Arthur Francis Riestenberg, 81, of Perham, was westbound on Highway 10 in a 2001 GMC.
He turned in front of Howieson to go southbound on Highway 59, causing the accident, according to two witnesses.
He said he was following the green left-turn arrow on the traffic light, but the arrow was gone by the time he turned.
Howieson and her 2-month-old son, John Howieson, were both taken to St. Mary's Innovis hospital by St. Mary's Ambulance, where she was treated and released.
