Crime and Accidents
The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department:
Wednesday, May 12
At 10:05 a.m. neighbors complained about aggressive dogs at a rental house on the 800 block of West Avenue. Two pit bulls were chained to a tree there, and another, less aggressive, dog was loose within the fence. The owner of the pit bulls was sent a letter from the city regarding the dog ordinance, which requires city permission for more than two dogs at a residence.
At 1:40 p.m. a resident on the 400 block of North Shore Drive reported receiving a scam letter.
At 5:33 p.m. officers responded to the report of a boat that fell off a trailer and was blocking one lane on County Road 5 north of the Road House in Cormorant Township. A towing operator got the boat back on the trailer.
At 5:50 p.m. an Audubon man reported receiving a scam letter.
Friday, May 14
At 10:07 a.m. a rural Audubon resident reported a storage shed break-in.
At 10:23 a.m. an Ogema woman reported criminal sexual conduct in White Earth Township.
At 3:04 p.m. Frazee Family Foods reported the theft of unspecified items.
At 10:46 p.m. an officer dispersed about 100 young people gathered in the parking lot of the Kent Freeman Arena for an impromptu boxing match.
At 11:31 p.m. officers responded to a report of a man beating up a woman who was on the ground near a church on County Road 35 off Highway 113 in Eagle View Township. Tribal police handled the report.
Saturday, May 15
At 9:37 a.m. a Moorhead woman reported her Honda Accord tires were slashed while parked at Lakeside Tavern. There is a suspect in the case.
At 3:24 p.m. a Frazee woman reported a neighbor's controlled burn in a ditch was getting out of control on the 43000 block of Highway 87. Frazee firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
At 11:48 p.m. a Frazee woman reported a known male had broken into her residence on the 500 block of Balsam Avenue.
Sunday, May 16
At 4:01 a.m. an intoxicated 24-year-old Bismarck man reported he had been assaulted several hours earlier near West Lake Drive.
At 7:28 a.m. Classic Auto Repair and Renovation reported a break-in on Highway 59 in Lakeview Township.
At 8:21 a.m. a break-in was reported at St. John's Lutheran Church, located just off Highway 34 on County Road 56 in Height of Land Township. After the door resisted being pried open, a small grave marker was taken from a nearby church cemetery and used to smash double windows on the church door to gain entry. Taken were books, wall hangings, vestments, candles and assorted items from the altar area.
At 8:30 a.m. it was reported that several storage units had been broken into at Sandy Beach Estates in Cormorant Township.
At 12:26 p.m., a man on the 1500 block of East Shore Drive reported a window on his pickup truck had been shot out by a BB or pellet gun while the truck was parked in the driveway.
At 9:48 p.m. a break-in was reported on Whiskey Creek Drive.
At 10:11 p.m. police responded to a loud music complaint at the Pavilion. The dance organizers agreed to shut the doors, and the music was done by 11 p.m.
