Bee sting causes head-on accident
A driver distracted by a bee sting caused a head-on collision on West Lake Drive Thursday morning.
Jamie Nicole Thornby, 25, of rural Detroit Lakes was eastbound on West Lake Drive about 11:30 a.m.
She was distracted by a bee or wasp that flew in her open window and stung her on the leg, causing her to swerve her black 1998 Subaru into the oncoming lane, according to the accident report.
She collided head-on with a 2007 Dodge LRT driven by Lynette Marie Erickson, 42, of rural Audubon.
A passenger in the Dodge, Patrick James Gaffney, 65, was transported to Essentia St. Mary's Hospital by St. Mary's Ambulance with unknown injuries.
